2012 Kettle River Paddle Festival Events

9.00- 4:00 Paddle festival set up for sponsors and event planners.
4:00 Pre-event river inspection, followed by final safety meeting.
6:00 Paddlers gather at the Gas Light Bar for beverages and dinner. Chat with fellow paddlers while quenching your thirst from the Gas Light's extensive beer list.
7-8 Surly beer tasting, sample some of Surly Brewing Company's award winning beverages.
7-12 Live Music at the Gas Light Bar
Saturday, May 5 
9:00-6:00 Robinson Park in Sandstone Minnesota hosts the Kettle River Paddle Festival. Boat demos and paddling clinics on the beautiful Kettle River.
10:00- 5:00 Mohawk canoe demos and paddling clinics on the beautiful Kettle River.
1:00-3:00 Race registration in Robinson Park.
4:00-6:00 Make your own paddle Lee Dybvig will share tips on making usable wooden canoe paddles.
3:30 Pre-race meeting for all paddlers at the Banning State Park
4:00 the "Kettle River Run" paddlers race from Banning State Park to Robinson Quarry. Fastest Boat down the river wins cash and prizes.See the video
5:00-7:00 Paddlers' dinner at the Gas Light Bar (everyone is welcome)
7:00 to 8:30 National Paddling Film Festival
8:30 Announcement of the "Kettle River Run" winner, beverages with fellow paddlers and some great door prizes from our generous sponsors.
Dusk **Fireworks ** in the Sandstone town square. (across the street from the Gas Light)
9:00 more live music at the Gas Light Bar.
Sunday, May 6
9:00- 11:00 join the flat water Group Float
9:00-1:00 Boat "SWAP and FLOAT" in the parking lot of Robinson Park.
10:00- 3:00 Mohawk canoe demos and paddling clinics on the beautiful Kettle River.
12:00 the Kettle River Rodeo watch kayakers do their stunts and tricks. River level will determine what wave will be used for the competition. Watch the action from the cliffs of Banning State Park, plenty of free seats for everyone.

3:00 Final river run and park clean-up, help keep the Kettle River and Robinson Park looking beautiful.
**Vehicle registration is required for Banning State Park
Water sport activities imply many hazards which could result in serious injury or death. All participants in these activities must assume responsibility for themselves, their safety and their actions. PFDs required by MN state law, helmets and cold water clothing strongly encouraged.
