Kettle River Paddle Festival Events

Friday, May 2

9.00- 4:00 Paddle festival set up for sponsors and event planners.
3:00 Pre-race river inspection, fallowed by final safety meeting.
6:00 Paddlers gather at the Gas Light Bar for beverages and dinner. Watch the   Fluid Groove videos Dakib and North Shore Project while quenching your thirst from the Gas Light's extensive beer list.
7:30 Surly beer tasting, try a sample of the Surly Brewing Company's award winning beverages.
9:00 The rocking country music of Bernie King at the Gas Light.

Saturday, May 3

9:00-6:00 Robinson Park in Sandstone Minnesota hosts the Kettle River Paddle Festival. Boat demos and paddling clinics on the beautiful Kettle River.

9:00-4:00  Test Paddle a Bell Canoe, demo boats will be available to test float on bell canoe worksthe flat water portion of the river. Banning has access to long stretches of flat water for paddlers looking to enjoy a "dry" float.

10:00-3:00 Make your own paddle  Lee Dybvig share tips on making usable paddles.

10:00-3:00  Kettle Kinship, a local youth mentoring program, will be selling food in the quarry.
9:00-11:00 Race registration in Robinson Park
11:45 Pre-race meeting for all paddlers at the Banning State Park

12:00 the "Kettle River Run" paddlers race from Banning State Park to Robinson Quarry. Fastest Boat down the river wins cash and prizes.

8:00 Announcement of the Kettle River Run winner, dinner and drinks with fellow paddlers at the Gas Light.
9:00 Fireworks in the Sandstone town square. (across the street from the Gas Light)

Sunday, May 4

8:00-10:00 Paddlers breakfast at the Gas Light, grab some chow before you hit the river.
10:00- 4:00 Boat demos and paddling clinics on the beautiful Kettle River.

12:00 the Kettle River Rodeo watch kayakers do their stunts and tricks. River level will determine what wave will be used for the competition. Watch the action from the cliffs of Banning State Park, plenty of free seats for everyone.

3:00 Final river run and park clean-up, help keep the Kettle River and Robinson Park looking beautiful.
